{"id":42274,"date":"2022-09-06T11:19:33","date_gmt":"2022-09-06T11:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=42274"},"modified":"2022-09-06T11:19:33","modified_gmt":"2022-09-06T11:19:33","slug":"delta-govt-pledges-to-sustain-support-for-persons-living-with-disability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/09\/06\/delta-govt-pledges-to-sustain-support-for-persons-living-with-disability\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta Govt. pledges to sustain support for persons living with disability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/05\/youths-from-niger-delta-urge-government-to-ensure-justice-for-late-sylvester-oromoni\/\">Delta Government<\/a><\/strong> has pledged to sustain support for persons with impairment, especially the deaf and dumb, by including them in her\u00a0 empowerment programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr Festus Agas, made the pledge on Monday, while addressing members of the Association of the Deaf and Dumb who were at the Government House, Asaba, on an awareness and advocacy procession.<\/p>\n<p>Agas, who was accompanied by the Chief Press Secretary to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/09\/04\/northern-governors-forum-congratulates-boss-mustapha-at-66\/\">Governor<\/a>, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, lauded the group for their peaceful\u00a0conduct.<\/p>\n<p>He reassured that the Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa administration would continue to provide for the deaf and physically challenged in all skill acquisition programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to welcome you to Government House, Asaba, and thank you for the orderly manner in which you have organised yourselves in carrying out your advocacy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to reassure you that as a government, we run an inclusive administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a lot of empowerment programmes such as Job Creation, Girl-Child Empowerment as well as Rural Youth Skill Acquisition(RYSA) programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201d In all these programmes, without any fear of contradiction, the government made provisions for the deaf and dumb and other physically challenged persons in the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Agas added, \u201d the deaf and dumb like every other persons are humans and also deserve the good things of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He urged members of the group to take advantage of ongoing cycle of RYSA selection for trainees to enlist and acquire skills.<\/p>\n<p>Agas promised to convey their message to the Gov. Okowa.<\/p>\n<p>Ealier, the Association President, Mr Emmanuel Oyibo, had thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to organise another Deaf and Dumb Awareness Week.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that programme would provide opportunity to enlighten the public on how to break the communication barrier between the deaf and other members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>Oyibo, however, appealed to the government to continue to include members of the association in its programmes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delta Government has pledged to sustain support for persons with impairment, especially the deaf and dumb, by including them in her\u00a0 empowerment programmes.
