Nigeria Police Force<\/strong><\/a> on Wednesday arraigned a 20-year-old labourer, Sani Usaini, at a Kano Sharia Court bordering on alleged theft of five tubers of yam worth N10,000.<\/p>\n

Usaini, who lives at Dan-Rimi Street, Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano, is facing a count- harge of theft.<\/p>\n

The Prosecutor, Insp Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Umar Nuhu, who resides at Brigade Quarters, reported the matter at the\u00a0Fagge Police Station, Kano, on Sept. 6.<\/p>\n

He alleged that on the same date at 05:30p.m , the defendant trespassed into Umar\u2019s business place where he sells yam along Galadima Market in Fagge Local Government Area and stole the tubers of yam.<\/p>\n

Wada said the defendant was caught red handed while trying to sell the stolen yams to another person.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law.<\/p>\n

The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n

The Judge, Ismai\u2019l Muhammad-Ahmed, admitted the defendant to a fine of N6,000 or be remanded in correctional center for six months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
