Man docked for allegedly stealing employer\u2019s dry cell batteries<\/p>\n

A 22-year-old man, Saviour Uwua, was on Tuesday docked in an Ikeja Magistrates\u2019 Court in Lagos for stealing employer\u2019s batteries worth N1.2million.<\/p>\n
The police charged Uwua, who resides in Ilupeju, with two counts of conspiracy\u00a0 and theft.<\/p>\n
The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Olasunkanmi Adejumola, told the court that the defendant and others, who are at large committed the offences on Oct. 19 at Oshodi, Lagos State,<\/p>\n
He said that the defendant stole\u00a012v 100ah dry batteries worth\u00a0N1.2 million property of his employer, Mr Johnson Ogunlana.<\/p>\n
Adejumola said that during questioning, the defendant admitted that he sold the batteries.<\/p>\n
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes two years\u2019 jail term for stealing while section 411 attracts two years for conspiracy.<\/p>\n
Magistrate O.A Odubajo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.<\/p>\n
Odubajo ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government(LASG).<\/p>\n
The magistrate adjourned the matter until Jan. 12 for hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
