{"id":43685,"date":"2022-10-12T16:51:37","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T16:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=43685"},"modified":"2022-10-12T16:51:37","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T16:51:37","slug":"centre-donates-educational-materials-to-40-physically-challenged-students-in-sokoto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/12\/centre-donates-educational-materials-to-40-physically-challenged-students-in-sokoto\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre donates educational materials to 40 physically-challenged students in Sokoto"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\" aria-label=\"Content\"><\/header>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The Nagari Gender and Disability Right Development Centre has donated educational materials to 40 students of the AbdulRashid Adisa Raji Special School, Sokoto.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the students comprised 30 females and 10 males cutting across all clusters of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/06\/nadcel-2022-army-wives-donate-items-to-children-with-disabilities\/\">disabilities<\/a> in the school.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the centre, A\u00edsha Abdullahi, said in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja that the gesture was in commemoration of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/17\/day-of-the-african-child-women-societies-tasks-fg-on-security-education\/\">2022 International Day of the Girl-child<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi said that the day was celebrated annually to showcase the achievement of girls worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cThis day also aims to educate girls about their rights, which will enable them to realize their full potential and transform the world around them.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-415079\" src=\"https:\/\/www.portal.nannews.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/thumbnail-3.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.portal.nannews.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/thumbnail-3.jpg 811w, https:\/\/www.portal.nannews.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/thumbnail-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.portal.nannews.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/thumbnail-3-768x511.jpg 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"811\" height=\"540\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost often, they are challenged by environmental and societal factors and these factors have multiplier effects on children with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEducation of the girl-child is not considered as important as the male child and as such, the education of the girl-child with disabilities is not prioritized.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA disable girl child has little support from the family unit, hence the foresight of the organisation to support the girl child with special needs,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Abdullahi said that the girls were not only supported with educational materials but also celebrated in the classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir perseverance, dedication, and hard work are worth celebrating as the stepping stone to achieving inclusion and full integration into the society,\u201d the chairperson said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nagari Gender and Disability Right Development Centre has donated educational materials to 40 students of the AbdulRashid Adisa Raji Special School, Sokoto.
