The\u00a0 Sokoto state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)<\/a> says it will inaugurate a committee against\u00a0 issues relating to hate-speeches ahead of the conduct of the\u00a0 2023 General Elections<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n

\n

Alhaji Bello Goronyo, the state\u00a0 Chairman of the party made this known in Sokoto on Wednesday when\u00a0 he recieved\u00a0 officials of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), who paid him a courtesy visit.<\/p>\n

Goronyo, represented by the Zonal Vice Chairman in charge of Sokoto Central, Alhaji Muhammadu Dangoggo called on the\u00a0 commission to evolve measures that woukd\u00a0 checkmate\u00a0 perpetrators of hate speeches.<\/p>\n

\u201d We would be very happy if you will beam your searchlight on those misusing the various social media platforms promoting hate speeches and fake news,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Goronyo said that PDP in the state would continue to be law abiding by respecting the constituited athourities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs leaders, we will continue to ensure that our supporters do the right thing in what ever circumstances,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Goronyo added that Gov. Aminu Tambuwal\u00a0 had always admonished\u00a0 them on the imperative of discipline, mutual respect and guarding against inciting or imflamatory comments.<\/p>\n

The chairman assured the commission of the party\u2019s cooperation throughout the 2023 elections and beyond, while urging them to be fair in all their dealings.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Coordinator NHRC in charge of\u00a0 Sokoto state, Mr Halilu Tambari, said the visit wad part of their tour of political party offices to sensitise\u00a0 party leaders against hate speeches\u00a0 ahead of the 2023 General Elections.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cOur interaction is to create awareness about the dangers of\u00a0 hate speeches\u00a0 and their negative consequences on our national unity and\u00a0 electoral system.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased\u00a0 on the commission\u2019s findings, many Nigerians used to\u00a0 avoid participating\u00a0 in elections due to the hate speeches involved throughout the exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoreover, politicians should be aware that we are following, watching and monitoring them, and any one found guilty of hate speech will be sanctioned.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
