The Borno Government<\/a> on Thursday allocated houses to 24 primary school teachers in the state to improve their welfare.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/header>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that the houses, constructed by Gov. Babagana Zulum, were inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari during a recent visit to Maiduguri for the 2022 World Humanitarian Day.<\/p>\n

Presenting the houses to the beneficiaries, Mr Lawan Wakilbe, the state\u00a0 Commissioner for Education, said they were were selected based on merit from different schools.<\/p>\n

Wakilbe explained that the houses consisted of 12 units each of fully furnished two bedrooms, a parlour, kitchen and two self-contained toilets.<\/p>\n

He charged teachers to take good care of the facility as it is an institutional property.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the state government has constructed similar edifices in Banki town of Bama and Mafa Local Government Areas.<\/p>\n

He said that the government would extend such gesture to other local government areas in the state in order to provide accommodation for hardworking teachers across the state.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Housing and Energy, Mr Yuguda Vungas, said the gesture was to put smiles on the faces of civil servants to enhance efficient service delivery.<\/p>\n

In their remarks, the Executive Chairman, Teaching Service Board (TSB), Prof. Suleiman Bello; the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Bulama Kagu; the state Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr Jibrin Mohammed, commended Zulum\u2019s polices and programmes in enhancing teachers\u2019 welfare.<\/p>\n

The officials however enjoined the teachers to re-dedicate themselves to duty.<\/p>\n

They also urged the workers to reciprocate the good intention of the present administration by ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
