{"id":44659,"date":"2022-10-18T21:16:27","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T21:16:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=44659"},"modified":"2022-10-18T21:16:27","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T21:16:27","slug":"nlng-declares-force-majeure-on-gas-supplies-in-bonny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/18\/nlng-declares-force-majeure-on-gas-supplies-in-bonny\/","title":{"rendered":"NLNG declares force majeure on gas supplies in Bonny"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), has declared force majeure on products supplied from its production facilities on Bonny Island in Rivers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Andy Odeh, NLNG\u2019s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development said this in a statement in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/10\/fg-donates-relief-materials-to-victims-of-port-harcourt-stampede\/\">Port Harcourt<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria\u00a0 (NAN) reports that force majeure is a provision in a contract\u00a0that frees both parties from obligation if an extraordinary event directly prevents one or both parties from performing<\/p>\n<p>He said the company took the decision following the declaration of force majeure by all its upstream gas suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe notice by the gas suppliers was as a result of high flood water levels in their operational areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe increased\u00a0 flood water levels led to the shut-in of gas production which has caused significant disruption of gas supply to NLNG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequently, NLNG had to activate force majeure clauses in accordance with the Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPA) provisions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Odeh said that NLNG was however reviewing the situation with gas suppliers, to ascertain the extent of the disruption to its operations.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the company is also taking steps to mitigate the impact of the force majeure to a reasonable extent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), has declared force majeure on products supplied from its production facilities on Bonny Island in Rivers.
