{"id":44800,"date":"2022-10-19T17:55:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-19T17:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=44800"},"modified":"2022-10-19T17:55:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T17:55:00","slug":"carpenter-40-docked-for-allegedly-stealing-window-frames","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/19\/carpenter-40-docked-for-allegedly-stealing-window-frames\/","title":{"rendered":"Carpenter, 40, docked for allegedly stealing window frames"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old carpenter, Musa Ibrahim, on Wednesday appeared in an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/07\/19\/court-orders-twin-brothers-to-clean-nis-premises-for-2-months\/\">Upper Area Court, Gwagwalada,<\/a> <\/strong>FCT, for allegedly stealing window frames worth N2 million.<\/p>\n<p>The police charged Ibrahim, who resides in Abuja, with criminal conspiracy and theft.<\/p>\n<p>The Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Mr Obadiah Ishaya, of Dynamite Estate Abuja, reported the matter at the police station on Oct. 14.<\/p>\n<p>Tanko said that the defendant, and others now at large, criminally conspired and trespassed into the estate located on airport road.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor said that they vandalised the window frames valued at N2 million, adding that during investigation, one cutlass and a piece of window frame, was recovered from the defendant.<\/p>\n<p>He said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 287 of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/18\/driver-jailed-3-years-for-breach-of-trust-stealing\/\">Penal Code.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>The Judge, Malam Sani Umar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million, with one reasonable and reliable surety in like sum.<\/p>\n<p>Umar further ruled that the surety must be resident within the court\u2019s jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>He also added that the surety, whose address must be verified by one of the court\u2019s officials, must provide two recent passport photographs.<\/p>\n<p>The judge further directed that the surety must provide a photocopy of a valid means of identification, and if he or she defaulted, they should be remanded in prison custody.<\/p>\n<p>Umar then adjourned the case until Dec. 7, for further hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 40-year-old carpenter, Musa Ibrahim, on Wednesday appeared in an Upper Area Court, Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly stealing window frames worth N2 million.
