{"id":46112,"date":"2022-10-25T21:50:13","date_gmt":"2022-10-25T21:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=46112"},"modified":"2022-10-25T21:50:13","modified_gmt":"2022-10-25T21:50:13","slug":"94-die-845-injured-in-301-auto-crashes-in-gombe-frsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/25\/94-die-845-injured-in-301-auto-crashes-in-gombe-frsc\/","title":{"rendered":"94 die, 845 injured in 301 auto crashes in Gombe \u2013 FRSC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe State on Tuesday says it has recorded 94 deaths in 301 auto crashes from January till date.<\/p>\n<p>The Corps Commander, Mr Felix Theman stated this in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/24\/gombe-state-to-tackle-proliferation-of-unregulated-clinics-commissioner\/\">Gombe<\/a> at the inauguration of the 2022 Ember Months campaign tagged: \u201cOperation Zero Tolerance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the campaign is \u201cAvoid Speeding, Overloading and Unsafe Tyres to Arrive Alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that 845 other persons sustained varying degree of injuries in the crashes.<\/p>\n<p>The Corps Commander attributed the accidents to speeding, overloading, wrongful overtaking, faulty vehicles and failure to comply with speed limits.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Corps had scaled up surveillance and patrols to ensure safety on the roads through deployment of addtional vehicles and ambulances.<\/p>\n<p>Theman said the Corps also trained its personnel to enhance response and rescue operations, especially during night hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are collaborating with the state\u2019s ministry of health in our efforts to ensure speedy treatment of those rescued,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Theman urged the motorists to avoid the temptation of hurrying while driving, taking alcoholic drinks and narcotics, use of phones and other acts capable of causing accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no vaccine for road crashes, the only vaccine is doing the right thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Theman also cautioned motorcycle riders against violating traffic rules, adding that the Corps had impounded over 1,000 motorbikes in the last three months in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He said some of the cyclists were found to be operating with fake, incomplete or outright lack of proper registrations.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC official further cautioned against reckless driving during electioneering campaigns, stressing that all traffic rules and regulations would be enforced.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Gov.
