{"id":46212,"date":"2022-10-26T16:07:12","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T16:07:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=46212"},"modified":"2022-10-26T16:07:12","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T16:07:12","slug":"my-wife-is-not-submissive-stay-at-home-husband-tells-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/26\/my-wife-is-not-submissive-stay-at-home-husband-tells-court\/","title":{"rendered":"My wife is not submissive \u2013 Stay-at-home, husband tells court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p3\">A stay-at-home husband, Gyang Gyang on Friday dragged his wife, Jemima before a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/26\/wife-begs-court-to-stop-husband-from-instigating-children-against-her\/\"><strong>Customary Court<\/strong><\/a> in Nyanya on grounds that she was not submissive to him and she travels without informing him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The petitioner said the allegation in a divorce petition he filed against his wife before the court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cAs the man of the house my wife is supposed to tell me know when she\u2019s travelling but she travels whenever she wants, without telling me,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cI only find out she has travelled when I don\u2019t see her in the house. She doesn\u2019t take orders from me, and she disrespects me.\u201d He said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">He also told the court that his wife does not contribute to the welfare of the family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cMy wife has never been a supportive wife. She left the upbringing of our children for me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201dI suffer from diabetes and hypertension. She has refused to disclose how much she earns as salary to me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201dShe is not contributing to the welfare of the family,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The petitioner prayed the court to dissolve his marriage before he dies of high blood pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The respondent, Jemima a civil servant, who was in court however denied the allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The Presiding judge, Doocivir Yawe, advised the couple to reconcile, saying,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cYou have been married for over 27 years, at this point where you are supposed to be enjoying your retirement and your children you are in court seeking divorce, please try reconciliation, before judgment is passed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">He however adjourned the matter until Nov. 8 for judgment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A stay-at-home husband, Gyang Gyang on Friday dragged his wife, Jemima before a Customary Court in Nyanya on grounds that she was not submissive to him and she travels without informing him.
