\u00a0Federal Road Safety Corp<\/a><\/strong>s (FRSC), on Thursday, urged motorists to install the use of speed limiters in their vehicles in order to reduce road crashes on the highways.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent reports that speed limiters is a device installed in vehicles in order to control vehicle speed or disallow drivers to go beyond the stipulated speed.<\/p>\n

FRSC Unit Commander in Ore, Mr Sikiru Alonge, gave the advice during the formal commencement of the 2022 ember months\u2019 campaign at Ondo Motor Park in Ore, Ondo State.<\/p>\n

Reports have it that the campaign had, as its theme: \u201cAvoid Speeding, Overloading and Unsafe Tyres to Arrive Alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alonge identified speeding, overloading and use of expired tyres as major causes of crashes on Ore-Benin expressway.<\/p>\n

According to him, ember months signify a season of increase in the movement of commuters and vehicles to different directions because of increased social, religious and political activities.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOur major challenges on this corridor are unnecessary speeding owing to the good road network.<\/p>\n

\u201cOther major causes of road crashes on this corridor include overloading of goods and passengers as well as use of expired tyres, both of which contribute to 67 per cent of crashes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is strongly advised that motorists embrace use of speed limit devices in order to reduce road crashes, which usually result in loss of lives and property,\u201d Alonge said.<\/p>\n

He also urged motorists and other road users to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules and regulations.<\/p>\n
