{"id":46512,"date":"2022-10-27T19:04:09","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T19:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=46512"},"modified":"2022-10-27T19:07:40","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T19:07:40","slug":"sales-rep-arraigned-for-alleged-n8-5m-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/27\/sales-rep-arraigned-for-alleged-n8-5m-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Sales rep arraigned for alleged N8.5m theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A sales representative, Vincent Ukoh, on Thursday appeared before a Surulere <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/20\/court-remands-man-41-charged-with-n135000-fraud\/\">Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court<\/a><\/strong>, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing his employer\u2019s N8.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Ukoh, 32, whose residential address was not provided, however, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor, Insp Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the defendant committed the offences from January 2020 to September 2022 at No. 1a, African Church Close, Off Coker Road, Ilupeju, Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>Osayande alleged that Ukoh stole proceeds of sales for his employer, Davinks Healthcare Nig. Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>She said that Ukoh diverted to his personal use, money he realised\u00a0 from selling\u00a0 Daravit drinks, Vista soap, Neoskin cream, Vista Plus cream, Acneaway cream and Neoskin soap for his <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/26\/house-help-arraigned-for-alleged-theft-of-employers-2290\/\">employer<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutor submitted that the theft was discovered during an audit of the company\u2019s accounts.<\/p>\n<p>She said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adewale Ojo, granted Ukoh bail in the sum of one million Naira with two sureties in like sum.<\/p>\n<p>Ojo ruled that the sureties must be blood relations of the defendant and show evidence of three years\u2019 tax payment to Lagos State Government.<\/p>\n<p>He adjourned the case until Nov. 4 for trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sales representative, Vincent Ukoh, on Thursday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing his employer\u2019s N8.5 million.
