{"id":46514,"date":"2022-10-27T18:33:30","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T18:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=46514"},"modified":"2022-10-27T18:33:30","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T18:33:30","slug":"court-remands-student-for-alleged-robbery-cultism-in-makurdi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/27\/court-remands-student-for-alleged-robbery-cultism-in-makurdi\/","title":{"rendered":"Court remands student for alleged robbery, cultism in Makurdi"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>A student, David Terhemba, have been remanded in a correction centre for alleged armed robbery and cultism by the Makurdi Magistrates\u2019 Court on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The presiding Judge, Magistrate Ajuma Igama, did not take the plea of the suspect for want of jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>Insp Stella Ngbede, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/13\/absence-of-dana-air-md-prosecution-counsel-stall-arraignment\/\">Prosecution Counsel<\/a>, told the court that the case was reported by Ogah Joshua, Samuel Alexander and Dada Abdulkarim.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the complainants reported that Terhemba and two others broke into their houses and robbed them at gunpoint.<\/p>\n<p>Ngbede said that Terhemba and his accomplice stole one L.G Plasma Tv 42-inche,\u00a0 one JVC television, one iPhone 6x, Infinix S4 and Tecno Spark 8c .<\/p>\n<p>She said that the stolen items were recovered from the suspect except for the Tecno Spark 8c.<\/p>\n<p>Ngbede also said that investigation into the matter was still on-going and prayed the court for an adjournment.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the offence contravened the provisions of sections 6(b), 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the robbery and firearms special provision act 2004 and Section 11 of the Abduction, Hostage-Taking, Kidnapping, secret cult and similar activities prohibition laws of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Judge adjourned the matter until Nov. 23, for further investigation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A student, David Terhemba, have been remanded in a correction centre for alleged armed robbery and cultism by the Makurdi Magistrates\u2019 Court on Thursday.
