{"id":46803,"date":"2022-10-29T09:58:06","date_gmt":"2022-10-29T09:58:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=46803"},"modified":"2022-10-29T09:58:06","modified_gmt":"2022-10-29T09:58:06","slug":"aiico-sponsors-130-women-for-cancer-treatment-mammogram-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/29\/aiico-sponsors-130-women-for-cancer-treatment-mammogram-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"AIICO sponsors 130 women for cancer treatment, mammogram testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/15\/nhia-adopts-renewable-energy-to-boost-health-insurance-ecosystem\/\"><strong>AIICO Insurance Plc<\/strong> <\/a>is sponsoring the chemotherapy treatment of 30 women diagnosed with triple negative cancer, in commemoration of the 2022 World Breast Cancer Awareness Month.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mr Segun Olalandu, Head, Strategic Marketing and Communications Department, AIICO, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Olalandu disclosed that the company is also sponsoring mammogram testing for 100 beneficiaries, which includes its female staff, female agents and wives of employees.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cOctober is globally marked as the breast cancer awareness month to draw attention to the scourge and take proactive steps to control and prevent it.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cAIICO is sponsoring the chemotherapy treatment of 30 women who are members of the public and had reached out for support from its NGO partner \u2013 Cancer Aware Nigeria, a Nigerian-based cancer intervention charity.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe company undertook to alleviate this financial burden and also partnered Cancer Aware Nigeria through its public enlightenment programme held virtually to inform the public.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Managing Director\/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AIICO Insurance, Mr Babatunde Fajemirokun, said the gesture was predicated on the need to prioritise the health and well-being of all people, especially the company\u2019s internal stakeholders.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Fajemirokun said this indicated the company\u2019s sustainability efforts in alignment with Goal 3 of the United Nation\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals which addresses healthy living and promotes well-being.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cA healthy work force is a harbinger of productivity and efficiency, as people are at their best when they are healthy and happy, hence; we shall continue to prioritise their well-being at all times,\u201d the managing director said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">On the project patnership, the Head, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, AIICO, Mrs Abimbola Shobanjo, said the insurance company seeks and work with trusted partners.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Shobanjo stated that its partners are experts in their field of endeavour, passionate about their cause and have consistently delivered on their mandate.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cCancer Aware Nigeria is one of such organisations with proven track records and we will continue to work with them to impact on the society,\u201d she said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to her, AIICO has been observing the breast cancer awareness month for years.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Shobanjo stated that the insurer had facilitated initiatives to screen staff of breast cancer, provide healthy breast education and assisted in taming the scourge of breast cancer nationally.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">AIICO Insurance is a leading composite insurer in Nigeria, founded in 1963 and provides life and health insurance.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It also provides general insurance and investment management services for individuals, families and corporate customers.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AIICO Insurance Plc is sponsoring the chemotherapy treatment of 30 women diagnosed with triple negative cancer, in commemoration of the 2022 World Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
