{"id":4709,"date":"2021-12-16T08:41:13","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T08:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=4709"},"modified":"2021-12-16T08:41:13","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T08:41:13","slug":"n4-9bn-awarded-by-oyo-state-govt-for-dualisation-of-ibadan-airport-road-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/16\/n4-9bn-awarded-by-oyo-state-govt-for-dualisation-of-ibadan-airport-road-others\/","title":{"rendered":"N4.9bn awarded by Oyo State Govt for dualisation of Ibadan Airport Road, others"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2021\/12\/13\/oyo-state-government-to-enforce-copyright-laws\/\">Oyo State Government<\/a> on Wednesday approved the award of N4.9 billion contract for the dualisation of the Ibadan Airport Road and some link roads in the state capital.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin made this known while briefing newsmen in Ibadan on the outcomes of the weekly state executive council meeting.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to Sangodoyin, the scope of the project is about 10.8 kilometres, with a service link by the Iwo Road Bus Terminal.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cA 3.2 kilometres stretch of Ibadan Airport Road, and 194.5 metres access road in that axis and also the 2.0 kilometres Oludare \u2013 Bishop Philips Road, were all included in the approval.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOthers are an extension of the road connecting the Iwo Road Interchange to Adegbayi Road by 400 metres,\u201d the commissioner said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Sangodoyin stated that the project, awarded to KOPEK Construction Company, is expected to be completed through direct funding within six months.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He noted that the Airport Road and the other link road projects were awarded to assist the economic expansion agenda of the state.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to him, the projects, when completed, would also impact the ease of doing business as well as the movement of goods, services and people around that axis.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said: \u201cBefore now, the Federal Government has awarded the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa Road project to KOPEK Construction Company.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSo, we used the opportunity to also award the same dualisation of Ibadan Airport Road to the same construction company at the value of N4.9 billion.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe duration of the project is six months and the funding is direct payment.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cRemember that we have had the opportunity to get a loan of N50 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cSo, we are using part of the loan to upgrade the Airport and all other adjoining roads,\u201d the commissioner said.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oyo State Government on Wednesday approved the award of N4.9 billion contract for the dualisation of the Ibadan Airport Road and some link roads in the state capital.
