{"id":47856,"date":"2022-11-03T18:26:46","date_gmt":"2022-11-03T18:26:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=47856"},"modified":"2022-11-03T18:26:46","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T18:26:46","slug":"oyebanji-presents-n113-6bn-proposed-2023-budget-to-ekiti-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/11\/03\/oyebanji-presents-n113-6bn-proposed-2023-budget-to-ekiti-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"Oyebanji presents N113.6bn proposed 2023 budget to Ekiti Assembly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/11\/01\/minister-felicitates-with-ekiti-governor-on-his-inauguration\/\">Gov Biodun Oyebanji<\/a><\/strong> of Ekiti has presented the proposed 2023 Appropriation Bill of more than N113.6 billion to the State House of Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed budget which is christened, \u201c<strong>Budget of Strong Beginning<\/strong>\u201d was presented by Oyebanji at Thursday\u2019s plenary sitting presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Hakeem Jamiu, in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/11\/01\/minister-felicitates-with-ekiti-governor-on-his-inauguration\/\">Ado-Ekiti<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The motion for admission of the governor into the chamber was moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Gboyega Aribisogan, APC, representing Ikole Constituency 1.<\/p>\n<p>It was seconded by Mrs Olubunmi Adelugba ,APC, representing Emure Constituency in pursuant to Section 121(1) of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/06\/13\/police-deploy-anti-riot-men-in-ado-ekiti-over-pre-election-violence\/\">1999 Constitution<\/a><\/strong> of Nigeria (as amended).<\/p>\n<p>The governor in his speech said that the recurrent expenditure of over N80.36 billion of the bill\u00a0 would\u00a0 take about 70 per cent while the capital expenditure of over N34.06 billion of it would take 30 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Oyebanji reiterated the commitment of his administration at making live meaningful for\u00a0 the people, saying the infrastructure sector would be given priority in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/11\/03\/2023-budget-gombe-sec-approves-n173-72bn-proposal\/\">2023 budget.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He said that the budget would\u00a0 focus more on how to increase the Internally Generated Revenue to reduce dependence on the dwindling Federal Allocation.<\/p>\n<p>He added that\u00a0 the state government would invest more in the provision of infrastructure like water, roads, electricity, housing among others with a proposed budget of over N15.7 billion (46.2 per cent)<\/p>\n<p>He said that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/10\/28\/2023-budget-delta-earmarks-n111-4bn-for-infrastructure\/\">government\u2019s<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0 focus on the infrastructure sector was aimed at making the state economically\u00a0 viable by creating the enabling environment for investors to prefer the state.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that in line with the present administration\u2019s vision to reduce governance cost, his administration had directed that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) would\u00a0 no longer sponsor seminars, workshops that would add no direct values to the people.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMy vision is for Ekiti to be a land of prosperity and opportunity for all. The 2023 proposed budget is developed in line with my administration\u2019s six points agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drafting of the budget, which is all inclusive participation, is aimed at creating the enabling environment for the state to strive,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Oyebanji said.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, called for the cooperation of members of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/05\/23\/primaries-full-list-of-gombe-pdp-state-assembly-house-of-reps-candidates\/\">state Assembly<\/a><\/strong> and Ekiti people to ensure that his administration deliver more dividends of democracy to the state.<\/p>\n<p>He promised to be open and transparent in his policies\u2019 implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in his address, Mr Hakeem Jamiu, the Deputy Speaker, Ekiti House of Assembly, who presided over the plenary, assured\u00a0 the governor of the continued support of the legislature to deepening democracy in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Jamiu lauded Oyebanji for hitting the ground running, saying that his action demonstrated the seriousness of purpose the new administration was bringing into governance.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cWe commend your proactive measures put\u00a0 in place since the inauguration of your government three weeks ago.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti has presented the proposed 2023 Appropriation Bill of more than N113.6 billion to the State House of Assembly.
