{"id":48777,"date":"2022-11-09T12:00:39","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T12:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/?p=48777"},"modified":"2022-11-09T12:00:39","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T12:00:39","slug":"benue-governor-presents-n179-8bn-2023-budget-to-legislature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/11\/09\/benue-governor-presents-n179-8bn-2023-budget-to-legislature\/","title":{"rendered":"Benue Governor presents N179.8bn 2023 budget to legislature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom has presented a N179.8 billion budget proposal for 2023 to the House of Assembly on Tuesday in Makurdi.<\/p>\n<p>Ortom tagged the budget, \u201cBudget of Consolidation and Transition\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, N106 billion of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/broadnews\/2022\/11\/05\/zamfara-assembly-to-focus-on-realistic-budget-in-2023-speaker\/\">budget<\/a> would go to recurrent spending, while N73 billion would go to capital expenditure.<\/p>\n<p>He said N48 billion would go to personnel cost, while N57 billion was earmarked for \u201csub heads\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the governor told the lawmakers that N71.4 billion or 39.7 per cent of the budget was expected from Federal Government\u2019s statutory revenue allocation.<\/p>\n<p>He added that N30.6 billion or 16.7 per cent was expected from independent sources.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Ortom said another N78.3 billion or 43.6 per cent of the revenue would come from aids, grants and loans.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Titus Uba, Speaker of the House, while responding, lauded Ortom for the timely presentation of the 2023 budget proposal.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker assured Ortom that the budget would be speedily processed and given urgent passage.<\/p>\n<p>However, he charged all ministries, departments and agencies to cooperate maximally with the various committees of the house when invited for their budget defence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom has presented a N179.8 billion budget proposal for 2023 to the House of Assembly on Tuesday in Makurdi.
