The Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Ogun has requested N1.50 billion as its entire budget estimate for the fiscal year 2022.<\/p>\n

Mr Lekan Kuye, the Executive Secretary of SUBEB, disclosed this on Thursday in Abeokuta while defending the board’s 2022 budget proposal before members of the Ogun House of Assembly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kuye stated that the figure included N577.2 million for capital projects and N927.8 million for recurrent expenses, with N10.6 million projected as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).<\/p>\n

According to the executive secretary, the board planned to rehabilitate 47 classrooms across the state for a total of N238.9 million.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Kuye stated that N1.163 billion was set aside for the construction of 80 classrooms and the rehabilitation of another 60 classrooms, as well as the construction of 20 toilets and other facilities.<\/p>\n

According to him, the funds for project execution are expected to come from the Federal Government’s intervention funds.<\/p>\n

Kuye stated that the board would continue to prioritize providing a high-quality education to all students in order for them to achieve appropriate levels of literacy, numeracy, communication, and manipulative skills.<\/p>\n

“With a focus on information and communication technology, as well as infrastructure development,” he explained.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Mr Joshua Ifede, Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, defended the commission’s N22.92 billion budget for the fiscal year 2022.<\/p>\n

According to the chairman, capital expenditure was estimated to be N140.9 million, while recurrent expenditure was estimated to be N22.78 billion.<\/p>\n

Ifede stated that the commission’s revenue for the next fiscal year is expected to be N3.18 million.<\/p>\n

The chairman went on to say that the goal of the 2022 budget was to improve teaching quality through intellectual professionalism by providing equitable, high-quality, and affordable educational opportunities for all.<\/p>\n

He stated that the board would improve capacity development for both teaching and non-teaching staff members in order to provide better service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
