The Nigerian Navy<\/a> has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a secure marine environment in order for businesses to prosper in the country.<\/p>\n

Rear Adm. Jason Gbassa, Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, stated this during the 2021 Nigerian Navy Ceremonial Sunset for the Lagos area, which was held at the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, Apapa.<\/p>\n

Rear Adm. Habila Zakaria, the Command’s Chief of Staff, represented Gbassa.<\/p>\n

The FOC stated that the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Awwal Gambo, would continue to provide and ensure a favorable environment for the country’s maritime sector to thrive.<\/p>\n

“I assure you that the CNS will continue to rely on all aspects of national recreation, technology, training, teamwork, and synergy to improve the Nigerian Navy’s services.”<\/p>\n

“This will re-energize the Nigerian Navy and strengthen her position as a well-motivated naval force in carrying out her constitutional mandate.”<\/p>\n

“This has been the CNS mantra, and we in the Lagos area will ensure that the marine environment is secure for commercial activities to grow,” Gbassa stated.<\/p>\n

He urged military personnel to consider the expectations of maritime stakeholders and to be prepared to make whatever sacrifices are required to ensure the safety of the maritime environment.<\/p>\n

According to the FOC, the Ceremonial Sunset is an age-old naval tradition that is often performed as part of the formalities to bring the year’s activities to a close.<\/p>\n

“Although primarily a regimental display, it is frequently tempered with a social context in which we invite dignitaries to a cocktail.”<\/p>\n
