Mr Dele Oladeji, a 39-year-old youth, has entered the chairmanship race of the Accord Party’s Lagos State<\/a> chapter, promising to popularize the party in order to win elections.<\/p>\n

Oladeji, the party’s Publicity Secretary for the last two years, declared his intention to run for the party’s top seat in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos.<\/p>\n

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the party has rescheduled its local government and state congresses for January 10 and 15, 2022, respectively.<\/p>\n

Oladeji stated that he was inspired after a 25-year-old became the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)<\/a> national youth leader, which he described as novel and commendable.<\/p>\n

He believes that instead of waiting to be appointed as Special Advisers and Personal Assistants, young people should rise up to serve their country.<\/p>\n

“I am now running for chairmanship of the party,” Oladeji said. I presented my declaration letters and completed all of the necessary paperwork.<\/p>\n

“It is my desire and hope to contribute more to the party’s growth and visibility, and to see the party become the ruling party in Lagos State in 2023.”<\/p>\n

“As a party member and state executive member, I have understood and absorbed the party’s ideology, goals, and management policies.”<\/p>\n

“I know exactly where the party’s strength lies and where her weakness lies.” “I promise to strengthen the party in areas where it is weak.”<\/p>\n

When asked about his chances of winning the party’s top seat, Oladeji stated that his declaration had been met with total acceptance and support by all critical caucus and party members.<\/p>\n

According to him, the current chairman saw his candidacy as a good omen.<\/p>\n

Oladeji described his relationship with the incumbent chairman as “father and son.”<\/p>\n

“I am contesting in good faith, in a selfless spirit, to infuse the party with youthful vigour, drive, and ideas.”<\/p>\n

“I am running to strengthen the Accord Party in order to achieve resounding success in the upcoming 2023 general elections.”<\/p>\n

“Some party stalwarts in various local governments have expressed their support for me, saying that it is past time for youths to be given the opportunity to grow the party.”<\/p>\n

“With about four weeks until the congress, I already have 80% support from party members, and my chances of winning the seat are good,” Oladeji, an IT consultant and entrepreneur, said.<\/p>\n

According to NAN, the 39-year-old is running against the current chairman, 68-year-old Mr Ola Beckley.<\/p>\n
