Some women in Plateau on Monday in Jos called on the Federal Government and security agencies to end killings in the North-Western part of the country.<\/p>\n

The women made the call\u00a0during a protest organised in solidarity with Women in North-Western Nigeria, an NGO.<\/p>\n

Dr Gloria Puldu,\u00a0President of Leah Foundation,\u00a0urged President Muhammadu Buhari<\/a> to intensify efforts at addressing current security challenges in the Northwest and other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

She decried the rising spate of killings in the country and called on security agencies to adopt new strategies to end the scourge.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here in solidarity with Women in North-Western Nigeria who have been crying and\u00a0protesting against the killings of their children and spouses while their daughters are raped and abducted by bandits.<\/p>\n

\u201cInsecurity has engulfed the entire country and all we hear from government is that they are on top of the situation; we are very tired of this situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is happening to our girls and women; what is happening to our school children is very pathetic and it is unacceptable,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

Puldu called on the international community to wade into the insecurity in Nigeria, adding that women and children had largely been the victims.<\/p>\n

She also called on Nigerian women to pray relentlessly to God to bring lasting peace to the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call on the entire women in Nigeria to rise; do not sit until you are affected.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should stand up and cry out together in solidarity with other parts of the country, irrespective of faith.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlood is being shed on daily basis; human rights are being violated and we must speak out against it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are tired of the whole situation; our men are killed and we are made widows; our daughters are raped on daily basis and many of them are even in captivity.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeah is still going to spend another Christmas in captivity; Chibok girls are going to spend eight years in captivity; enough of this; we are tired,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

Leader of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Plateau, Mrs Rotha Jahota decried the worsening security situation in the country.<\/p>\n

She called on the Northern Governors Forum to take proactive measures toward addressing the scourge.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur women are dying and our children are still in captivity and no effort is being made to secure them and we are out today to cry with our sisters in the Northwest.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of our women in the Northwest have been captured by bandits and we call on government to evolve new measures of tackling this insecurity,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

On her part, Pastor Esther Lagang, lamented the high rate of killing, raping and abduction of young girls in the northern part of the country and called on government to salvage the situation.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that women during the peaceful protest held placards with various inscriptions.<\/p>\n
