The management of Bauchi’s Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) says it will work with relevant institutions to attract more research grants, allowing the institution to maintain its enviable status.<\/p>\n

Prof Mohammed Abdulaziz, vice chancellor of the university, stated this in Bauchi on Monday, at the start of a three-day step down workshop on “Grants winning proposal writing.” He was represented by Prof Ibrahim Garba, deputy vice chancellor, administration.<\/p>\n

He stated that the workshop was organized for the institution’s academic staff in order to further educate them on how to access grants through the presentation of concept notes to the appropriate agencies.<\/p>\n

He explained that the federal government had set aside N8.5 billion for research grants in 2021, but only those who submitted concept notes to the Tertiary Education Fund (TETfund)<\/a> would be eligible.<\/p>\n

Earlier in her remarks, Prof Fatima Saws, the University’s director of research, innovation, and development, mentioned that the National Universities Commission’s recent rankings of universities had placed ATBU in a lower position.<\/p>\n

She attributed the low rating to the university’s inability to attract deserving academic staff and the institution’s inability to attract lecturers internationally, “saying we have also failed to upload our activities in Google device.”<\/p>\n

She went on to say that some of the school’s major breakthroughs should be made available online, via Google<\/a> and YouTube, so that anyone interested in learning more about the institution could do so from anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, 170 academic staff members from the university are currently attending a workshop at the school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
