President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a goodwill message to popular journalist and editor Fred Ohwahwa, as he marks his 60th birthday on Dec. 22.<\/p>\n

President Buhari<\/a>, in a message via his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, wished Ohwahwa, a former Editor of The Guardian, well and many more years of fruitful service to the country and humanity in general.<\/p>\n

A former Financial Secretary of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr Ohwahwa, has, over the past decades, played a significant role in the communications industry in Nigeria as a journalist and working in the oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n

He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the International Press Institute (IPI).<\/p>\n

According to the president, Ohwahwa is one of those deepening the frontiers of free speech and responsible journalism in Nigeria by his contributions to various organisations \u2013 both academic and professional, in the communications industry.<\/p>\n

He noted that for about two decades, Ohwahwa was in the corporate world contributing his quota to the evolution of Nigeria\u2019s oil and gas industry by his enlightening interventions to ensure a better understanding by the general public.<\/p>\n

The president described Ohwahwa as a fervent believer in community service, saying he has, over the years, demonstrated his commitment to the development and well-being of his local community of Ekakpamre in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is highly regarded by his people for his generosity and passion for building a better society.<\/p>\n
