Yusuf Oladejo, a 40-year-old Sales Representative, appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court<\/a> on Thursday for allegedly stealing N500,000 from his employer.<\/p>\n

Oladejo, who lives in Oko-Oba in Lagos’ Agege district, is accused of stealing and has pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

ASP Clifford Ogu, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on October 25 in Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The money, according to Ogu, belonged to his employer, Mrs Oluwafadekemi Lawal.<\/p>\n

Lawal, according to Ogu, discovered the money missing after taking inventory of her goods. She reported the incident to the police, who arrested the defendant.<\/p>\n

According to Ogu, the offense violated Section 287 (7) of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.<\/p>\n

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stealing carries a seven-year prison sentence.<\/p>\n

Mrs S.K Matepo, the Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the same amount.<\/p>\n

Matepo stated that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show proof of two years of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.<\/p>\n
