An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates\u2019 Court on Thursday remanded a 30-year-old man, Adewale Tunde, in a Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl.<\/p>\n
The Magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, who did not take the plea of Tunde ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.<\/p>\n
Olaiya adjourned the case to Dec. 29, for the DPP\u2019s advice as the defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for rape.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Olumide Bamigbade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 17, at Ado-Ekiti.<\/p>\n
Bamigbade said that the defendant defiled his neighbour\u2019s daughter noting that the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2012.<\/p>\n
In another development, the Court also remanded a 25-year-old man, Anthony Peter, in a Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.<\/p>\n
The Magistrate, Mrs Franca Olaiya, who did not take the plea of Peter remanded him, pending a legal advice from the DPP.<\/p>\n
Olaiya adjourned the case until Dec. 29, for mention<\/p>\n
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of rape.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec.17 in Ado-Ekiti.<\/p>\n
