YouTube today announced the names of African creators who have been chosen to join a global cohort of 135 from around the world in the company’s flagship YouTube Black Voices Fund initiative, and ten Nigerian creators made the list.

The fund is primarily interested in investing in Black creators from around the world who are telling new and authentic stories.

The list comprises creators from countries across Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, but one major similarity with them all is that they aim at making a difference in their communities with their content.

These Youtube creators will be provided with funds along with other great opportunities like hands-on training, workshops, and networking programmes.

“We are excited to be working with an outstanding group of young and talented African creators who understand that content that resonates with their audience is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

“This group of creators is making content that starts important conversations about issues we face in society, which really resonate with their audience. We are inspired by them and hope that the skills they learn from being part of this programme will help them touch more lives than they’d ever imagined.” – Alex Okosi, MD, Emerging Markets, YouTube EMEA.

The Nigerian creators joining the programme are Adaeze Jideonwo for Adaeze’s Space, Chinyere Nneka Abang for Chinyere Abang, Data Willie-Pepple for Data Pepple, Oluwafisayo Fosudo for Fisayo Fosudo, Ikede Adebisi Oluwafunmilayo for Fummeee, Chima Chikodinaka Perpetua for HN Clothings, Nwamaka Joy Izugbara for Skybelle, Ndukwu Stephen Anthony for Steven Ndukwu, Olawale Adetula for TNC Africa, and Halima Yusuf Rabiu for Ummeeta Rabiu.
