Owo church attack: Biodun Okeowo, Wumi Toriola, others take break from social media

In the wake of the massacre of some Christians in their place of worship in Owo, some Nollywood actors have taken time off social media despite being popular for always promoting their content.

Nollywood actresses, Biodun Okeowo, aka Omoborty and Wumi Toriola announced that they will be taking some days off Instagram to cool off due to the constant bad news that seems to be the order of the day in Nigeria. The actresses in their individual posts prayed for God to take over the country and grant those who lost their loved ones during the attack on St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, on Sunday June 5, fortitude to bear the loss.Over 50 worshippers lost their lives during the attack, signaling the arrival of a massacre of the innocent in the South.

Other celebrities like Toyin Abraham, Femi Adebayo, Mide Funmi-Martins, Yewande Adekoya, amongst others made their posts about the attack on the Catholic Church hours after the incident took place on Sunday and have not made any new posts. Although they didn’t specifically state they will be taking some time off social media, they are seemingly affected by the gory incident as well as many Nigerians. Mercy Johnson-Okojie made her post about the Owo church attack around 5am today, June 6 with a broken heart emoji and simply captioned a blank black photo with ‘Ondo’.

At the time of this report,  she has not made any other post and has changed her profile photo to a blank black photo as well.
