Beyonce has unraveled the cover artwork for her forthcoming body of work, ‘Renaissance.’ ‘Renaissance’ is her first studio album since she dropped ‘Lemonade’ in 2016.
The acclaimed singer said she wanted to use the album to create a safe place where no one would be judged but be free of perfectionism and overthinking.
Sharing the album cover art on Thursday, June 30, she added that she hopes everyone who gets to listen to the album gets inspired, feels unique and strong.
In her words, “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving.”
“My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.”
“I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.”
Beyonce’s fans speculated that the image on the artwork pays homage to John Collier’s 19th-century painting ‘Lady Godiva.’ Some also noted its resemblance to a photograph of Bianca Jagger on horseback at Studio 54.
On June 21, Beyonce dropped the lead single titled ‘Break My Soul’ from the hotly awaited ‘Renaissance.’
