Ijogbon: Nigerian filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan announces KAP Motion Pictures new film

Popular Nigerian filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan has announced the making of a new film under KAP Motion Pictures and in partnership with topmost streaming platform, Netflix.

The 48-year-old Nigerian filmmaker made the announcement on his Instagram page, sharing pictures of production meetings as well as pictures of crews on the scene of the movie.

According to him, the location of the movie is set in the rural area but the movie itself is set in the present day with an infusion of local folklore to better tell the story.

“KAP Motion Pictures, under the directorship of Kunle Afolayan and in partnership with NETFLIX, is set to shoot another film titled – IJOGBON.”

‘IJOGBON’ written by award-winning writer, Tunde Babalola, tells the story of a coming-of-age family adventure of four teenagers (3 boys and 1 girl) from a rural village in South-West Nigeria, who stumble on a bag full of diamonds and conceal it, much to their regret.

Kunle Afolayan further explains that ‘IJOGBON’ shows the universality of human emotions, defined by peculiar cultural backgrounds and beliefs and also depicts what life is like for teenagers in rural parts, and their aspirations for a better life, even if it means having to leave the country.

The movie boost of an incredible cast of big names which includes Bimbo Manuel, Gabriel Afolayan, Sam Dede, Tana Adelana, Yemi Solade, Yemi Sodimu, Femi Branch, Adunni Ade, Funky Mallam, Dorathy Bachor along with young actors such as Ruby Akubueze, Ojuolape Kayode, Fawaz of Ikorodu bois and Oluwaseyi Ebiesuwa.
