Why I should’ve been more arrogant – Joeboy

Nigerian singer Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, has said he wishes he were “more arrogant.”

Revealing why, Joeboy said sometimes he feels if he were more boastful about his musical achievements, people won’t often take his calmness for granted.

The ‘Baby’ crooner stated this on his new podcast, Body & Soul. Joeboy said:

“What could I have done different? I would say, be more arrogant [laughs]. Because you people don’t have respect. When you are always calm they go just feel like say you are not that guy or something. It’s crazy, but it is what it is.

“I felt I should have been more loud about my achievements because, to be honest, una no reach.

But it is what it is. We grow and we learn. That’s one thing I wish I had done then; which I’m going to do now.”

Recall Singer, Joeboy revealed he was almost arrested and stopped from performing in Saint Lucia.

The ‘Alcohol’ crooner was billed to perform at an event in the Caribbean island nation, but his performance was cancelled midway into the show.

Taking to his Instastory on Sunday, May 14, Joeboy explained that he was prevented from performing because his disc jockey used vulgar language.

The 25-year-old said he and his team were not informed about the existence of such a law in the country. He wrote:

“Saint Lucia

I travelled over 40 hours to be with you guys and I was super excited to be performing here for first time in St Lucia.

I couldn’t perform today due to issues from the organisers. I tried my best to give you the best performance today, but my set was cut off, and my DJ taken off stage.

“My DJ was taken off stage because he said, ‘Make some f*cking noise’. We were not given any memo that we couldn’t use any curse word on stage.”

He added that the organisers threatened to get him and his team arrested if they insisted on performing. Joeboy wrote:

“My DJ immediately apologised to the crowd but his Mic was cut off. I was still willing to perform but I was told I couldn’t and one of the promoters threatened to call security on us and also get us arrested. It was later decided that I couldn’t perform.

To my fans in St Lucia, I will certainly come back for you.

Pondeck”
