Lateef Adedimeji, an acclaimed actor known for his versatility in Nigerian cinema, has received immense accolades for his outstanding portrayals, which encompass a wide range of characters. Particularly noteworthy is his remarkable performance as ‘Iya Peju,’ a feminine character, in his skits.
His extraordinary ability to convincingly portray such roles has earned him admiration and respect from fans and peers alike in the entertainment industry.
Recently, Islamic Cleric, Abu Sufyaan, expressed his disapproval on social media regarding actors taking on cross-gender roles in the nigerian film industry.
Referring to Lateef Adedimeji as a case in point, Abu Sufyaan, during his sermon, voiced his reservations about the actor acting like a woman in movies, considering it “forbidden by God and the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).”
According to him, Lateef Adedimeji and some of his colleagues adopt these feminine roles merely to garner a significant number of views and likes on their social media platforms.
He contended that such representations blatantly flout the teachings of God and the principles of Islamic law.
“Recently he has turn himself into a woman, all the sufism call actor Lateef Adedimeji to other, lecture him with words of God.” an extract from Abu Sufyaan’s statement reads.
