South African singer and songwriter, Tyla, has opened up on the delay in the release of her highly anticipated debut album, “Tyla,” attributing it to the Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems.

Tyla, who has been crafting her debut album for nearly three years, unveiled that the final moments leading up to the album’s submission were unexpectedly prolonged due to Tems’ last-minute contribution.

The track in question, titled “NO 1,” received a surprise verse from Tems, just as Tyla was ready to submit her project to her record label.

Recounting the pivotal moment during the interview, Tyla expressed her admiration for Tems, referring to her as the “Queen” of African music.

This reverence led Tyla to prioritize incorporating Tems’ contribution, causing a slight delay in the album’s release as she awaited the arrival of Tems’ verse.

Despite the delay caused by Tems’ late addition, Tyla maintained a respectful attitude towards the acclaimed Nigerian superstar.
