The Senate of Canada, Marcel Lebleu has recently expressed its admiration for the Nigerian entertainment sectors, highlighting the impressive international strides made by the country’s music and film industries.
Marcel Lebleu, the Director General of the West And Central African Bureau at Global Affairs Canada, singled out Burna Boy for his remarkable achievements as a performing artist.
He celebrated the Grammy-award-winning musician for his unprecedented feat of consecutively filling the renowned Bell Centre in Montreal to capacity, marking him as the first African artist to accomplish this.
Reflecting on Burna Boy’s impact, Lebleu said:
“I don’t know if you know Burna Boy. He is an Afrobeats singer. He was in Montreal three weeks ago, sold out The Bell Centre twice. That’s about 35,000 people.
“He was also in Toronto. We don’t think about the culture industry a lot but this is an important industry. For example, Nollywood.”
Senator Boehm also affirmed his fondness for the artist on his verified social media account following the widespread circulation of a video clip.
