May Edochie, one of Nigeria’s most sought-after brand influencers and estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, recently revealed how she once sold recharge cards in Enugu while nursing her infant daughter, Danielle.
Speaking at the Mega City Fair event, themed “Women Minding My Business,” May, in a now-viral video, underscored the urgency for women to be self-sufficient, to believe in themselves, and to break free from over-reliance on spouses or others.
Drawing from her own journey, she recalled how she had always believed in financial independence, a mindset she developed during her school years.
May disclosed that after giving birth to her first child Danielle, she voluntarily stayed home for three years but felt the need to do something to earn a little income for herself. This led her to start selling recharge cards while still newly married to Yul.
According to the mother of three, that self-reliant mentality she built over the years became her greatest asset, helped her stand on her own and build a brand strong enough to take care of her children after leaving her marriage.
