For years, Nollywood heartthrob Timini Egbuson has carried the “bad boy” tag like a designer accessor and not necessarily by choice. But now, the actor is setting the record straight.
In a recent sit-down with The Culture League podcast, Timini opened up about the public perception that he’s a serial dater, saying it couldn’t be further from the truth. According to him, the only thing he’s truly committed to these days is work, not women. He stated plainly:
“A lot of people assume that I’m a womaniser. But I’m not. In the past two, three years, Nollywood has taken over my life in a way that there’s no room.”
Known for his charming roles and real-life swagger, Timini explained that his intense filming schedule leaves him little to no energy for romantic drama, let alone juggling multiple women. He explained:
“From being on set all day to getting back tired at 11 pm, I will now start chatting a lady? I don’t have the capacity for that.
“I even wonder how some of my friends who womanise, date four or five girls simultaneously, have time to attend to all of them.”
The Big Love star also revealed that he has been single for the past two years, choosing instead to focus on his career, which has been on a steady rise in Nollywood.
Interestingly, while he denies the womaniser label, Timini Egbuson admits he’s not completely mad at the “bad boy” image that comes with his brand. In fact, he says he has learned to lean into it a little. He shared:
“It doesn’t bother me. I think it’s just one of those things that comes with the image. And truthfully, I like the mystery. I like that people don’t fully know who I really am.”
And while fans may still fantasize about his off-screen romantic escapades, the actor insists that the streets are not as hot as people think.
