Tragedy struck on Friday night, August 16 as Fresh FM Ibadan, the popular radio station founded by gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, was gutted by fire.

The incident occurred at the station’s premises in Felele, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The alarm was first raised on social media by media personality Samuel Arugboboisi, who called for urgent intervention from the fire service. Staff members also confirmed the situation, describing it as “pathetic” while efforts were made to contact firefighters. Reacting to the sad incident, founder, Yinka Ayefele detailed the extent of the damage saying:

”We are sad to inform the general public that the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, challenge – ibadan was razed by a devastating fire incident this evening, August 15, 2025. In the ensuing mishap, the studios of fresh 105.9 and blast 98.3 were badly burnt with proximal offices like the newsroom, the transmitter/server room and several equipment that got razed during active operations

All efforts to fight the fire before the arrival of the professional fire fighters with our in-house fire extinguishers proved abortive because of the strength of the inferno. We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the devastating inferno, the cause of which is also yet to be ascertained presently.

We heartily appreciate every good-spirited Nigerians who joined us in fighting the inferno.”

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Rev. Akinyemi Akinyinka, assured that officials had been deployed, while Fire Service Chairman, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed that men were already on the ground to contain the blaze.

Founded in 2015, Fresh FM has grown into one of Ibadan’s most influential radio brands, with branches in Abeokuta, Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Osogbo and Lagos, and is widely admired for its vibrant programming and audience engagement.

In other news, Nollywood actress and media personality Bimpe Akintunde, fondly known as Wasila Coded, has shared the story of her second delivery and it is nothing short of miraculous.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the actress shared that exactly four weeks ago, she faced her “most sacred dream” which is the delivery room. She detailed how her pregnancy was marked by low blood pressure and multiple emergency hospital visits.

Bimpe revealed that since January, she battled chronic low BP, even collapsing on set in February while filming The Return of Sambala in Ikorodu. Despite at least six emergency treatments during her pregnancy, she kept working, praying, and holding on to faith.

She recalled that on Thursday, July 17, she drove herself to her clinic for a routine check-up. By the next morning, her doctor told her to head to the delivery room.

In less than three hours, she delivered her “precious gift from God” naturally, with no complications. This joyous moment comes nearly a decade after her last childbirth.
