Chizzy Alichi’s star-studded baby dedication and story behind the celebration

Chizzy Alichi and husband’s child dedication

After years of waiting and a painful health scare, Nollywood actress Chizzy Alichi is finally living her miracle. Her son’s dedication wasn’t just another celebrity event, it was a heartfelt celebration of faith, love and survival.

It was joy, glitz and gratitude as the new mum and her husband Chike Ugochukwu Mbah celebrated the dedication of their baby boy in Lagos, at Pearls Events Garden, Lekki. The ceremony, which took place on Sunday, October 26, was more than a star-studded family affair. It marked the emotional climax of a journey that has taken fans from long-held prayers to a public testimony of faith and survival.

A Long Wait Rewarded by Faith

For years Chizzy Alichi quietly held on to faith while fans and colleagues waited with her. The actress and her husband weathered the questions and the prayers the way most people who believe in timing do, through patience and private hope. The couple got engaged in 2019 and celebrated their traditional wedding later that year in a ceremony attended by Nollywood friends. Their marriage quietly became one of the industry’s steadier love stories, and the desire for a child was something they spoke about with calm resolve.

Chizzy Alichi was born Chigozie Stephanie Alichi and hails from Enugu State. She studied at Enugu State University of Science and Technology before choosing acting as a career path. She rose through steady work in Nollywood, earning attention for roles in family dramas and emotional pieces and building a reputation for grounded performances. Her screen work includes titles that established her as a reliable presence in the industry and helped her transition into the public spotlight.

Her husband, Chike Ugochukwu Mbah, is a businessman who is also publicly linked to film production and creative support for the couple’s projects. The two met, fell in love and made their partnership official in 2019. His wife describes him as supportive and present during the most difficult chapters of the pregnancy and NICU stay. That steady support is part of why the dedication felt like a shared, family victory more than a celebrity moment.

Earlier in 2025 their son arrived prematurely at about 30 weeks. Chizzy has said their baby, Kenechukwu spent about 25 days in the neonatal intensive care unit before finally coming home. In her public posts she described those weeks as the hardest period of her life, filled with hospital vigils, medical worry and constant prayer.  She wrote:

“I don’t even know where to start from. But all I can say is thank you, God Almighty, for what you have done for me and my family.”

Chizzy shared how she turned to faith in desperation, joining online prayer groups, giving tithes to multiple churches, frequenting the chapel, and performing acts of charity in orphanages and on the streets. She also emotionally mentioned how she often prayed with her late father’s portrait, seeking strength and a sign from him.

I cried, I prayed… I did everything that came to my head,” she wrote. “But God is too faithful to fail. Those who trust Him can never be put to shame.”

In the same posts she credited both medical care and faith for her son’s recovery and called the child a miracle. These are what the couple shared publicly, which guided their decision to hold a grateful, faith-centred dedication when he was finally healthy enough.

That difficult stretch made the dedication that followed more than a ceremony. It was a public thanksgiving for a private victory, and it showed how faith and medical care can sit side by side in a celebrity narrative. For Chizzy and her husband, it marked an end to the anxious waiting and the start of a new chapter where family life, healing and gratitude come first.
