{"id":120514,"date":"2023-03-10T08:33:51","date_gmt":"2023-03-10T08:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=120514"},"modified":"2023-03-10T08:33:51","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T08:33:51","slug":"desmond-elliot-knocks-from-oap-do2dtun-others-over-transformer-donation-days-ahead-of-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/03\/10\/desmond-elliot-knocks-from-oap-do2dtun-others-over-transformer-donation-days-ahead-of-election\/","title":{"rendered":"Desmond Elliot: Knocks from OAP Do2dtun, others over transformer donation days ahead of election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Nollywood actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot has received knocks from Media Personality, Do2tun and others for gifting transformers to his constituency days ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Recall ahead of Saturday\u2019s March 18th election, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2022\/05\/28\/actor-cum-politician-desmond-elliot-clinches-apc-ticket-for-3rd-term\/\">Desmond Elliot who is running for a third term as lawmaker<\/a> for Lagos State House of Assembly, Surulere Constituency had donated transformers to his constituency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The two-term incumbent Surulere representative revealed on social media that he had commissioned the installment of high-capacity transformers in Surulere. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/02\/23\/actors-agog-as-olumide-oworu-vies-for-surulere-ticket-against-senior-colleague-desmond-eliot\/\">Desmond Elliot said:<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis is to bring reliable electricity to communities that have long needed it\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The recipients of the transformers include, Somade Crescent, Main street, Clegg street, James Robertson, Akerele, Martins Street and Tafawa Balewa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI am excited to announce that new high-capacity transformers have been installed in Surulere, bringing reliable electricity to communities that have long needed it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reacting via his Twitter page, Do2dtun noted how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/03\/01\/he-even-chose-psquares-song-comments-as-desmond-elliot-others-take-to-the-street-to-celebrate-tinubu\/\">Desmond Elliot w<\/a>as only making a donation to buy his constituency\u2019s votes. The OAP raised eyebrow over how Desmond, who couldn\u2019t buy a power bank for his constituency was donating 8 transformers all at once.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He added that it is obvious Desmond Elliot doesn\u2019t care. Do2dtun said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cDesmond that couldn\u2019t but a power bank for his constituency suddenly buys 8 transformers all at once few days to the Election. Isn\u2019t it obvious that these guys don\u2019t care\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This is coming after Lagos youths in Surulere had vowed to come en masse to vote out Desmond Elliot, during the upcoming state elections, from his political post as a lawmaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Surulere Constituency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The youths are upset that since Desmond Elliot was sworn into office on 11 April 2015, he allegedly hasn\u2019t produced any positive outcome, especially in Surulere. To make matters worse, he turned his back on the youths during the END Sars protest in 2020, by pushing for a bill to regulate and control speech on social media at the Lagos State house of assembly.
