E Nwaka, the judge of the court sitting in Lagos state, stipulated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2021\/06\/16\/update-baba-ijesha-to-be-arraigned-in-court-today\/\">Baba Ijesha<\/a> cannot be granted bail because the matter was beyond his jurisdiction after the actor\u2019s counsel cited that his client\u2019s health was deteriorating.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, however, explained that the case has already been filed before the high court. The superintendent of police in charge of the case, Yetunde Cardoso, also confirmed this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Olanrewaju was actually granted bail during the JUSUN strike and based on the conditions given, he couldn\u2019t meet them and he was properly charged today (Wednesday),\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust like the court stated, the case has already been filed before the high court and the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) of Lagos State Ministry of Justice has taken over the matter from the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo presently, we have handed over to the DPP, so the case is before them (DPP). It has nothing to do with the police anymore, it\u2019s now left for the DPP to handle it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WithinNigeria had reported that Lagos police arrested and detained Baba Ijesha after he was alleged to have sexually molested a minor, the foster daughter of comedienne Princess, at ages 7 and 14.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nigerian actor James Omiyika, popularly called Baba Ijesha, has been denied bail in the ongoing trial over alleged sexual assault.
