Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola-Salako<\/strong><\/a>, recently disclosed the reasons behind her prolonged stay in an abusive marriage.<\/p>\n

During an interview with TVC, the actress, who has since remarried, admitted that she became aware of the abuse on her wedding night. Despite this, she remained in her first marriage due to concerns about societal opinions and her gratitude for the children she had from the relationship.<\/p>\n

Foluke disclosed she later realized that it was imperative for her to leave the marriage to ensure her own safety. Although some people were unsupportive of her decision, she knew it was the right choice. She explained that if she had stayed and died there, she would have been a forgotten case by now.<\/p>\n

While she acknowledges that not everyone may agree with her choice, she is ready to stand by her truth rather than risk her life to prove something to society.<\/p>\n

In her words:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first marriage, on the night of my wedding was when I noticed abuse. But because of what people will say\u2026 And God has already orchestrated it because my wonderful kids are from the marriage.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I finally decided to step out [of the marriage], people did not understand why I stepped out. But I understood that I needed to go. A lot of people did not receive it well, but if I hadn\u2019t stepped out, if I had died there, by now I would have been a forgotten case.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it is better for people not to accept my reality or my truth but I accept my own truth than for me to lose my life in the process of trying to prove to the world what I\u2019m going through.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
