In fact, \u2018Soweto\u2019 was one of my first trials at Afrobeats.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cHonestly, I used to know I could sing but I just refused to. Because I just felt like it was for weak people. I felt like it was an escape for weak people.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI always loved that rapper energy and I wanted to be a rapper. But when I started singing, I realised that it is just as technical as rapping.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In another news, Victony opens up w<a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/03\/29\/why-i-chose-to-pursue-petroleum-engineering-degree-at-career-peak-victony\/\">hy he chose to pursue Petroleum Engineering degree at career peak\u00a0<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The singer who is most popular for his hit songs and features including \u201cApollo\u201d, \u201cHoly Father\u201d, \u201cSoweto\u201d and more revealed how although he is doing very well in music, he is now also trying to balance it well with securing a Petroleum Engineering degree from the Federal University of Technology in Owerri.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Grungecake, Victony had this to say:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI started music professionally in 2016. I started off as a rapper on SoundCloud. Where I dropped freestyles and different mixes. In 2020, I put out my first body of work; \u2018The Saturn\u2019 EP. I came into the limelight in 2021 when I got featured on \u2018Holy Father\u2019 off the \u2018Back In Office\u2019 project by Mayorkun.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I\u2019m currently studying for a degree in Petroleum Engineering at the Federal University of Technology Owerri.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I feel like they\u2019re really separate worlds. You have to be two different people. Doing both, being very active in both, has been a struggle, honestly, because sometimes I literally have to forget I am Victony just to put maximum focus into studying and tests, exams, and all that stuff. I don\u2019t go to school as often as I used to, but once in a while, I have to go to school to do some stuff. Sometimes we have presentations. So I have to be present for stuff like that, but other than that, I\u2019ve been doing everything from home.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u2026I\u2019m really excited because I feel like the next set of songs that I\u2019m going to be releasing are going to be pretty interesting compared to the Outlaw EP that\u2019s already out. It kind of has more depth with the sound, so I feel like that\u2019s one my fans will be looking forward to.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>And so it excites me that I\u2019m going to be introducing something new, kind of an evolution in a realm they are already really familiar with.
