{"id":154780,"date":"2023-12-28T10:14:16","date_gmt":"2023-12-28T10:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=154780"},"modified":"2023-12-28T10:14:16","modified_gmt":"2023-12-28T10:14:16","slug":"my-father-wasnt-involved-in-my-upbringing-but-now-feels-entitled-erigga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/12\/28\/my-father-wasnt-involved-in-my-upbringing-but-now-feels-entitled-erigga\/","title":{"rendered":"My father wasn\u2019t involved in my upbringing but now feels entitled \u2013 Erigga"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Erigga reveals that his father has never been present in their life while growing up<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He speaks on how his father made his way back into their lives the moment he gained success<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Nigerian rapper Erhiga Agarivbie, well known as Erigga, discloses the complex emotions of having a father who was absent during his upbringing but has suddenly resurfaced with a sense of entitlement.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that while his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/12\/27\/phyna-finally-responds-to-her-fathers-claim-of-not-seeing-her-since-winning-bbnaija-video\/\">father had not been active in his upbringing<\/a>, he began contacting him and making demands as soon as he achieved success.<\/p>\n<p>Erigga revealed this in the most recent episode of the Spill With Phyna podcast.<\/p>\n<p>Erigga openly expressed his feelings on this matter, he delved into the confusing mixture of resentment, curiosity, and reluctant acceptance that he now grapples with when it comes to his father&#8217;s sudden involvement in his life.<\/p>\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong><em>When you see parents start feeling entitled, it doesn\u2019t make sense because you had many years ahead of me, why didn\u2019t make it before me? People don\u2019t really address this entitlement mentality in Africa.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI was facing the street alone. I was involved in too many things that I can\u2019t even say on camera. And I just keep wondering like what if I was shot or arrested? Because most of the people I was with then are either dead or in jail.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cI\u2019ve to start raising myself at the age of 8. I started living with my friends and learning bad habits. But then again, I fell in love with music at a very tender age so I knew where I wanted to be regardless of where I was. Then many years later, I now become Erigga then somebody comes and say, \u2018Yo! You\u2019re not taking care of me. You\u2019re not doing this and that.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Bro, na relations we be because you no father the father wey you suppose father normally. I don father myself alone. And I can\u2019t give you the credit.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>All my stepbrothers started begging me to forgive our dad, saying he wasn\u2019t also responsible to them.
