{"id":161154,"date":"2024-02-21T20:03:34","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T20:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=161154"},"modified":"2024-02-21T20:03:34","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T20:03:34","slug":"my-dad-co-wrote-national-anthem-but-never-got-credit-veteran-singer-eddy-remedy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/02\/21\/my-dad-co-wrote-national-anthem-but-never-got-credit-veteran-singer-eddy-remedy\/","title":{"rendered":"My dad co-wrote National Anthem but never got credit \u2013 Veteran singer, Eddy Remedy"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Eddy Remedy claims his father, Ashiedu Brown, a retired police officer, was in the Nigeria Police Band that composed the national anthem but all the credits were given to his boss.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He claimed that his father\u2019s sad experience made him oppose his\u00a0 musical career because he believed that he would never be rewarded.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Veteran singer Edward Ashiedu Brown, popularly known as Eddy Remedy has revealed that his father was actually a co-writer of the national anthem but never received credit for it.<\/p>\n<p>Eddy Remedy opens up on how his father, had collaborated with others on co-writing the national anthem , only to be left out of the official credits.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that although his father, former police officer Ashiedu Brown, was a member of the Nigeria Police Band that wrote the national song, all the credit went to the band&#8217;s director, Benedict Elise Odiase.<\/p>\n<p>The singer stated that despite his father&#8217;s contribution to the national Anthem, he has not received any recognition from the government to date.<\/p>\n<p>He also stated that his father&#8217;s experience led him to reject his musical career on the grounds that he thought Nigeria would never recognize or reward him.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent interview with Daddy Freeze, Eddy Remedy said:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cNow I understand why my dad didn\u2019t want me to do music. Because they did the same thing to him. My Dad was among those who wrote the national anthem. But what did he get? Did they give him any recognition?
