{"id":162980,"date":"2024-03-07T06:29:19","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T06:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=162980"},"modified":"2024-03-07T06:29:19","modified_gmt":"2024-03-07T06:29:19","slug":"defamation-mohbads-wife-demands-apology-threatens-n50m-lawsuit-against-father-in-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/03\/07\/defamation-mohbads-wife-demands-apology-threatens-n50m-lawsuit-against-father-in-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Defamation: Mohbad\u2019s wife demands apology, threatens N50m lawsuit against father-in-law"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Wunmi Aloba, wife of late Mohbad who died under mysterious circumstances has served her father-in-law pre-action notice through her lawyers.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">This is in line with claims that her Mohbad\u2019s father amongst other things, defamed and insulted her on social media. <\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Wunmi demanded an apology, threatening court action against Joseph Aloba with N50million damages<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Wunmi Aloba, the wife of late musician Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, has served a pre-action notice to her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The pre-action notice demands an apology from Joseph Aloba for defamatory, insulting and libelous social media and newspaper posts and publications about her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/02\/29\/probe-my-sons-widow-mohbads-father-urges-police\/\">Wunmi Aloba,<\/a> who served the notice through her lawyers, claimed that her father-in-law lately resorted to defaming her through name-calling and also dragging her image into the mud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Part of the notice reads<\/span><span class=\"s3\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201c\u2026through newspaper campaign of calumny, character assassination, name-calling, defamation of characters against her and use of reckless language to portray her image and personality to gain cheap attention and sympathy from unsuspecting members of the public\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The letter read:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cWe have been consulted, briefed, and our services retained by Mrs. Aloba Cynthia Omowunmi, hereinafter referred to as \u201cOur Client\u201d and at her behest, we write you in respect of the above subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\">\u201cOur Client\u2019s brief reveals that you have recently resorted to a newspaper campaign of calumny, character assassination, name-calling, defamation of characters against her, and use of reckless language to portray the image and personality of our client to gain cheap attention and sympathy from the unsuspecting members of the public.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;\u2026If, however, you fail, refuse or neglect to hearken to this subtle demand, we will be left with no choice than to commence legal proceedings against you to assert our client&#8217;s rights and claim 50 million naira damages in that respect.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The letter highlighted an interview Mohbad\u2019s father made with Westo Adejumo Adekunle on African television, in which he was quoted as saying he hated his late son\u2019s widow.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wunmi Aloba, wife of late Mohbad who died under mysterious circumstances has served her father-in-law pre-action notice through her lawyers.
