{"id":166608,"date":"2024-04-05T16:09:09","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T16:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=166608"},"modified":"2024-04-05T16:09:09","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T16:09:09","slug":"court-fixes-bobriskys-sentencing-for-april-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/04\/05\/court-fixes-bobriskys-sentencing-for-april-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Court fixes Bobrisky\u2019s sentencing for April 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong>Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, April 5th reserved the judgment of convicted controversial crossdresser Bobrisky till April 9, 2024.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">The judge also ordered that he should be returned to EFCC\u2019s custody pending the judgment.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, April 5 scheduled the sentencing of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky for April 9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The controversial crossdresser was convicted for abuse of the Naira.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Trial judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro convicted the defendant following his guilty plea to the charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The court reserved till April 9, to sentence the convict and ordered that he be remanded in custody of the EFCC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">EFCC had on Thursday, filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky, but he was arranged Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to the charge, counts one to four borders on alleged tampering with Naira notes, while counts five and six borders on money laundering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When the case was called, the prosecutor,\u00a0 Mr. Suleiman\u00a0Suleiman told the court that following a discussion, the defendant had agreed to plead guilty to the charge.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He made an oral application for counts five and six to be struck out, leaving counts one to four.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The court consequently struck out counts five and six.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When the remaining counts were read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Still on court cases, a magistrate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/04\/04\/court-summons-five-persons-as-mercy-chinwo-husband-take-legal-action-over-sons-paternity-claims\/\">court in Abuja has issued criminal summons on 5 persons for defaming Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, the husband of Minister Mercy Chinwo filed Direct Criminal Complaint against the individuals for Criminal Defamation via falsehood, cyber bullying and cyberstalking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/04\/04\/court-summons-five-persons-as-mercy-chinwo-husband-take-legal-action-over-sons-paternity-claims\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>The five defendants are Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, DJ Spoiltkid, Terrence Ekot, and Samuel Agozie and they are to appear before the court on the 23rd of April, 2024.<\/strong> <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday, April 5th reserved the judgment of convicted controversial crossdresser Bobrisky till April 9, 2024.
