They didn\u2019t even understand it and this was before Wiz (Wizkid) got the record with Drake,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> he said. &#8220;<strong><em>I can comfortably say I brought Afrobeats to America&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> Rotimi confidently asserted.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_168879\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-168879\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-168879\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240424-141153.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240424-141153.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/04\/Screenshot_20240424-141153-252x300.jpg 252w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-168879\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rotimi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, Rotimi&#8217;s claims have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many pointing out that Afrobeats songs like Ayo Jay&#8217;s &#8216;Your Number&#8217; (2015), Drake and Wizkid&#8217;s &#8216;One Dance&#8217; (2016), and Davido&#8217;s &#8216;Fall&#8217; and &#8216;If&#8217; (2017) achieved success in the US before Rotimi&#8217;s &#8216;Love Riddim&#8217; in 2018. These observers argue that Rotimi&#8217;s statement overlooks the contributions of other artists who paved the way for Afrobeats in America.<\/p>\n<p>In another story, Ckay had asserted that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2022\/02\/15\/im-the-pioneer-of-classical-afrobeats-music-not-wizkid-or-davido-ckay-asserts-video\/\">he is the pioneer of Classical Afrobeats Music<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Factory 78, Ckay revealed why his style of music is completely different from that of his colleagues; Wizkid and Davido<\/p>\n<p>According to CKay, he grew up listening to Classic Music, he can play the guitar, the piano coupled with some talents which influenced his sound.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he knew with all the talents he possessed that he didn\u2019t want to sound like Davido or Wizkid.
