{"id":169723,"date":"2024-05-02T08:32:37","date_gmt":"2024-05-02T08:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=169723"},"modified":"2024-05-02T08:32:37","modified_gmt":"2024-05-02T08:32:37","slug":"follow-due-process-in-prosecuting-yahaya-bello-actor-segun-arinze-urges-efcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/05\/02\/follow-due-process-in-prosecuting-yahaya-bello-actor-segun-arinze-urges-efcc\/","title":{"rendered":"Follow due process in prosecuting Yahaya Bello \u2013 Actor Segun Arinze urges EFCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Segun Arinze charged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to ensure that it follows due process in prosecuting the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The anti-graft agency is prosecuting Bello alongside his nephew, Ali Bello, Dauda Suleiman and Abdulsalam Hudu on a 19-count charge bordering on money laundering of about N80 billion.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Prominent Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has called upon the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure fairness and legal propriety in the case against Governor Yahaya Bello.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, along with his nephew and two others, are facing allegations of laundering N80 billion, as outlined in a 19-count charge.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent video uploaded to his Instagram, Segun Arinze criticized the trial that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2023\/03\/27\/why-is-she-holding-him-tight-speculations-trail-bbnaijas-phynas-visit-to-kogi-gov-and-wife\/\">Yahaya Bello<\/a> is undergoing by social media, labeling it as superfluous.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing his observations, Segun Arinze stated:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cI have been observing the things that have been going on with the EFCC and Yahaya Bello saga and it has been quite dramatic.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cFirst, the EFCC came out with a lot of statements on social media and in the news about the bulged arrest of Yahaya Bello and of course, the amount of dollars he paid into his children\u2019s school account. It\u2019s not enough to say the money came from the government but if it\u2019s substantiated, it\u2019s damming.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cI\u2019m not saying Yahaya Bello is innocent or guilty. I don\u2019t even have much details about that. What I\u2019m bothered about is social media. If social media haven\u2019t dragged you before, you won\u2019t understand. Too many opinions on social media with all the feeds coming out from the EFCC and generally, it just brings a lot of negativity on both sides.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cWhat I\u2019m saying is, social media parliament is not the Nigerian judiciary. It can\u2019t make any decision. As I am made to understand, the case is already in court. So my advice is that EFCC should follow due process. Let the law take its course.
