The media personality recalled her recent meeting with an influencer who had tribal marks, sparking her reflections on the long-standing tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Toke Makinwa said: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cToday I saw a beautiful influencer with tribal marks and it made me think about the cruelty that culture brought upon us. My grandma had tribal marks too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSome on her face and her arms, I wonder what life was like when she was younger walking around with it, though I\u2019m sure a lot of people around her had the same but thank God it\u2019s cancelled now,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Following heavy backlash from some X users, Toke Makinwa explained in another post, that her disapproval is due to the lack of consent involved and not the beauty of the marks. She explained:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt\u2019s not the beauty or lack of but the lack of consent.
