{"id":177811,"date":"2024-07-04T16:35:50","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T16:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=177811"},"modified":"2024-07-04T16:35:50","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T16:35:50","slug":"cardi-b-faces-50-million-copyright-infringement-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/07\/04\/cardi-b-faces-50-million-copyright-infringement-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardi B faces $50 million copyright infringement lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>Cardi B was sued for copyright infringement by two singers for allegedly using their song in her track \u201cEnough (Miami)\u201d without permission.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>According to the lawsuit documents obtained by TMZ, it was alleged that Cardi B and her producers used elements of their 2021 song \u201cGreasy Frybread\u201d in her track.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Popular American rapper Cardi B is currently facing legal action for suspected copyright infringement.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit against Cardi B was filed by two singers from Texas and Oklahoma over allegations that she used their song in her track \u201cEnough (Miami)\u201d without seeking proper authorization.<\/p>\n<p>It is worth noting that \u201cEnough (Miami)\u201d by Cardi B was met with commercial success, charting within the top 10 upon its release in March.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_177817\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-177817\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-177817\" src=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/07\/Screenshot_20240704-172138.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"773\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/07\/Screenshot_20240704-172138.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2024\/07\/Screenshot_20240704-172138-279x300.jpg 279w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-177817\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cardi B<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to sources, Miguel Aguilar, also known as Kemika 1956, and Joshua Fraustro, or Sten Joddi, have pointed out that Cardi B and her production team incorporated elements from their 2021 song \u201cGreasy Frybread\u201d into her track.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs have emphasized that their song was even featured as a promotional asset for the FX series \u201cReservation Dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not only Cardi B, but Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, and producers OG Parker and DJ SwanQo have also been listed as co-defendants in this lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, \u201cGreasy Frybread\u201d by the plaintiffs had been released approximately three years prior to Cardi B dropping \u201cEnough (Miami)\u201d on March 15, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In another news, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/05\/07\/femi-adebayo-wins-copyright-infringement-battle-against-online-tv\/\">Femi Adebayo wins copyright infringement battle against online TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Jagun Jagun producer made this known in a statement on Tuesday, May 7, in which he highlighted the negative effects of piracy.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that in 2021, Femi Adebayo dragged the online TV to court to a Federal High Court in Ibadan over the copyright of his movies.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner, through his counsel, Mr Y.B.
