{"id":194062,"date":"2024-11-04T02:32:06","date_gmt":"2024-11-04T02:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/?p=194062"},"modified":"2024-11-04T02:32:06","modified_gmt":"2024-11-04T02:32:06","slug":"i-never-called-for-dismantling-churches-peter-obi-denies-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/entertainment\/2024\/11\/04\/i-never-called-for-dismantling-churches-peter-obi-denies-report\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cI never called for dismantling churches&#8221; \u2013 Peter Obi denies\u00a0report"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) denied report that Peter Obi called for the dismantling of church structures in Nigeria.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>POMR emphasized that recent interpretations of Obi\u2019s media interview were misleading and misrepresented his actual message.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>According to the spokesperson, Obi&#8217;s remarks were intended to emphasize the importance of combining faith with practical actions to achieve meaningful change, rather than advocating for the dismantling of churches.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has denied allegations that<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/tag\/peter-obi\"> Peter Obi<\/a><\/strong>, the leader of the Labour Party, is calling for the dismantling of church structures in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released on Sunday, POMR addressed recent misinterpretations stemming from Obi&#8217;s media interview, clarifying that his remarks were misrepresented.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement signed by spokesperson Ibrahim Umar, Peter Obi&#8217;s comments during the interview were intended to stress the importance of combining faith with practical actions to foster meaningful change, rather than advocating for the dismantling of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.withinnigeria.com\/?s=church\">worship centers. <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>POMR emphasized that claims suggesting otherwise are unfounded and a distortion of Obi&#8217;s true message.<\/p>\n<p>In his words:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0\u201c<em>The attention of the\u00a0 Peter Obi Media Reach, POMR, has been drawn to a huge twist in his recent media interview, saying erroneously that he called for the dismantling of Churches in Nigeria.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBy the headline given to the interview, the import of OBI\u2019s message has been greatly overturned and grossly distorted to serve a mischievous end.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe Labour Party leader is well known as a man of strong faith who has enormous respect and love for every religion and tried in the referenced interview to bring to Nigerians how religion can be more effective in their lives.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<em>Obi,\u00a0 in the interview, was merely underscoring what Apostle James said in (James.2.14)\u201d Faith without Works is unhelpful\u201d and in\u00a0 (James2.24)<\/em>\u00a0\u201c<em>You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhen Obi said that he would turn night vigil into production night, he was only stressing the importance of worshipping God through work.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cEven Jesus Christ never picked any of his 12 disciples where they were praying but where they were working: fishermen, tax collectors, etc.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<em>Proverbs 14:23 even copiously explains what happens if you fail to work: \u201cAll hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhat we are doing in Nigeria, which is what OBI\u2019S interview is highlighting as wrong and should discontinue is exchanging work for prayer when the two should go together.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThere is no evidence in the scripture where Jesus Blessed an idle person; rather, we see abundant evidence of him blessing hard work as captured in the Parable of the Three Servants (Mathew 25 Vs14-30). The servant who delivered greater profit out of harder work got a bigger blessing.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe problem In some of Nigeria\u2019s worshipping\u00a0 communities\u00a0 is that they are not following St James advisory(James.1.22) that we should be \u2018doers of the words\u2019<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSo, Peter Obi\u2019s media office wishes to put it in an unmistakable tone that the slant being given to our Principal\u2019s interview by some media houses negates the essence and should be disregarded.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAs a man whose campaign mantra is on taking Nigeria from consumption to production, and watching the country going down because\u00a0of lack of production, OBI\u2019S message should resonate properly away from the intention of mischief makers.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<em>OBI\u2019S two main quotes in the interview \u2018its attractive, politics and church, but it has to be dismantled.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">\u201c We are going to turn night vigil into night shift so that people can be productive.\u201d All try to explain what is wrong in our worshipping culture that should change so that we can be in a good state of mind and body while glorifying our creator.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) denied report that Peter Obi called for the dismantling of church structures in Nigeria.
